The #1 Anti Virus solution in the US…and it’s free.

Computers, Security

According to OPSWAT the number 1 Anti Virus tool (in market share) in the United States is Microsoft Security Essentials .  It is number 2 in the world just behind avast!.  It’s incredible that both of these products are FREE!

I have been happily using Microsoft Security Essentials for several years on several computers and have been very pleased with the results, or should I say the lack of problems.  Of course, Anti Virus software is only one link in the security chain and you should also use a software firewall as well as a firewall in your cable modem/router.

Try out Microsoft Security Essentials, I think you will be pleased as well.

    Hey Grant,

I have been using AVG Anti-virus (the free 2012 edition) and have never had a problem with my computers.

I like it because it’s fast and it’s not heavy on resources and as this is the only one that I have been using for a while now (maybe two-three years) I can’t say much about MS Security Essentials.

If it’s working for you and it’s free, then keep using that one man! 😉

      Hi Sergio,
I’m glad it is working for you. I know a lot of people using AVG and it is a good product. As long as you are using something you are better off than 98% of other people.

      Have fun is Vegas. 🙂

Go into safe mode with networking. Right click your antrviius icon and choose run as administrator . You should be able to access your virus scanner this way. Do a full scan. It should detect and remove it. After this, it’s a good idea to run a spyware/malware detector like spybot search and destroy or IObit Security. I also used ccleaner to do a registry cleanup .My antrviius (AVG 9 full) caught everything but I did the rest just to be safe. 4 days now, and no problems since.
