The Steps And Tools Needed To Start A Blog

May 9, 2012

I wanted to let you know what it took to get this far on my new blog journey.

  • I had to purchase a domain name from Godaddy.
  • Sign up for hosting at Hostgator
  • Tell Godaddy the Hostgator nameserver addresses
  • Install WordPress on Hostgator
  • Install the Fresh News Theme from Woo Themes
  • Configure settings on WordPress

I have a lot more to do, but wanted to pass along what has taken place thus far.  There are many other ways to accomplish setting up a blog.  This is just how I have done it.

    Hey Grant,

Have you worked with WordPress before?

It seems like all of this comes too natural for you…

If you have that’s great and if you haven’t, I think you may have some awesome WP skills in the raw so good job!

      Hi Sergio,
I don’t have a lot of experience with WordPress but I have been a programmer for a lot of years. I plan to become expert with WordPress and want to get into PHP (so much free instruction on YouTube and such) as well. Like many of us with WordPress, I know WHAT I want to do but I don’t always know HOW to do it. When that happens I can use my secret weapons, Google and YouTube.

      Thanks for commenting!
